Based
A minimum of 226,000 migrant visas are allocated yearly for this
category of migrants.
First preference goes to unmarried sons and daughters of United
States citizens and their children if any.
Second Preference goes to spouses, minor children, and unmarried
sons and daughters (over age 20) of lawful permanent residents.
Third preference goes to married sons and daughters of U.S. citizens,
and their spouses and children.
Fourth Preference goes to brothers and sisters of United States
citizens, and their spouses and children, provided the U.S. citizens
are at least 21 years of age.
If you fall in any of these categories, you should know that
when filing your application, your sponsor is expected to provide
an Affidavit of Support form whereas the applicant is also expected
to provide personal documents like passports, birth certificates,
police certificates, etc.
Before an immgrant visa is issued, the applicant must undergo
a medical test performed by a doctor designated by the consular
officer, at the applicants cost.
